Grammar Rules

  1. Noun/pronoun agreement errors  ex. Mr. Mitch slowed down when he saw the police road block
  2. verb tense  (future, past, present)
  3. Conjunction errors (connecting words ex. and, but, if)
  4. Subject verb agreement errors ex. the oranges are /
  5. Word order errors
  6. Capitalizing proper nouns
  7. Capitalize the first word of a sentence
  8. Punctuation of a question sentence  (?)
  9. Punctuation of an exclamatory sentence  (!)
  10. Punctuation of dialogue (“  “)
  11. Using a comma to list items in a sentence. includes a comma before the word ‘and’
  12. Eliminating a double subject ex. Jim he likes to draw  Correct: Jim likes to draw
  13. using abbreviations when appropriate   ex. A.M. and P.M.
  14. Spelling errors
  15. Incorrect Homophone choices  ex: “Hay, come over here”  Correct: “Hey, come over here”
  16. using apostrophes   ex. Didnt
